Tested hands-on over 30 days of real production use before publishing.
I used Otter.ai to transcribe 12 recorded interviews over 30 days — research conversations with people in the longevity space that I wanted to repurpose into content for Recelis.
Transcription accuracy: On clear audio with one or two speakers, accuracy was consistently 95%+. I transcribed a 45-minute interview and corrected roughly 30 words total — clean enough to use as a direct basis for an article without spending an hour fixing errors.
The content repurposing workflow: Record → upload to Otter → get transcript in ~5 minutes → paste into Jasper for article drafting. The time from recording to having a usable draft dropped from 3 hours (manual transcription + writing) to about 45 minutes. For interview-based content, this is the workflow I'd recommend.
AI summaries: After transcription, Otter automatically generates a summary with key points and action items. For meeting notes, this is excellent — I get a clean summary sent to Notion via Zapier without touching anything manually. For content repurposing, the summary is useful as an outline but still requires human shaping.
Where it fell short: One of my interview subjects had a mild accent and a tendency to trail off. Accuracy on that recording dropped to around 85% — still useful but required significantly more editing. If your audio source isn't clean, budget extra editing time.
The 300 min/month free tier also fills up faster than expected. Two 2-hour interviews plus a few shorter calls and you're at the limit before the month is half over.
My verdict: For any creator doing interview or podcast-based content, Otter.ai at $10/month pays for itself the first time you use it. The free tier is enough to test whether the workflow fits your process before committing.
