Systeme.io's Free Plan: What You Actually Get, and Where It Stops
How this review was built. Pricing, tiers and limits come from the vendor's own pricing page and documentation as of the date above — and where a figure is the vendor's claim, we say so rather than repeat it as fact. Some links on this page are affiliate links: we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, which is why the drawbacks are printed in full on this page rather than left for you to find later. About the rating. It is our own editorial judgement on a 1–5 scale — not the output of a formula, and not the result of hands-on testing. Treat it as one publication's opinion and read the drawbacks, which are the useful part. See our full methodology & disclosure →

Verdict: A permanent free tier with 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails and no card required — genuinely enough to run a small business on. The wall you hit first is three funnels, not the contact count.
Pros
- ✓2,000 contacts and unlimited emails — no card, no expiry, not a trial
- ✓Affiliate management included on the free plan, which most paid platforms charge extra for
- ✓No transaction fees on sales, on every tier including free
- ✓One full course included — enough to launch and validate before paying anything
Cons
- ✗Three sales funnels is the real ceiling, and you reach it faster than 2,000 contacts
- ✗The page builder is rigid; templates look dated beside dedicated builders
- ✗Reporting is shallow — surface metrics only, no cohort or attribution depth
- ✗Few native integrations; expect to lean on Zapier
What the free plan actually includes
From Systeme.io's own pricing page, not a comparison blog:
| Free | |
|---|---|
| Price | $0, permanent |
| Contacts | 2,000 |
| Sales funnels | 3 |
| Courses | 1 |
| Emails | Unlimited |
| Affiliate program | 1, included |
| Transaction fees | None |
| Credit card required | No |
The free plan never expires and does not require a credit card. That is the company's own wording, and it is the part that separates this from a trial.
Why this is unusual
ClickFunnels has no free plan at all — entry is $97/month. Most platforms that do offer one give you a 14-day trial, a contact cap under 500, or strip email sending.
Systeme.io gives you unlimited emails on the free tier. For a 2,000-person list, that is not a token — you can email daily and never hit a wall. The cost of a comparable send volume elsewhere is usually the entire reason people start paying.
Affiliate management on a free plan is genuinely rare. ClickFunnels does not include it on its $97 Launch tier. If you sell anything with a referral component, that alone can be the deciding factor.
Where it actually stops
Three funnels. That is the ceiling, and almost nobody hits 2,000 contacts before they hit it.
A funnel gets consumed faster than you expect: an opt-in page and thank-you sequence is one. A sales page with an order form is two. A webinar registration is three. You are done, and your list might still be at 300.
That is the honest read. The free plan is not limited by audience size — it is limited by how many distinct offers you can run at once.
One course. Fine for validating a single product. If you sell two, you are on a paid tier.
What paying actually buys
| Free | Startup $17 | Webinar $47 | Unlimited $97 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Contacts | 2,000 | 5,000 | 10,000 | Unlimited |
| Funnels | 3 | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Courses | 1 | 5 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Emails | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
The jump from free to $17 is almost entirely about funnels, and that is the constraint that will actually bite you. Contacts go 2,000 → 5,000, which matters later; funnels go 3 → unlimited, which matters immediately.
$17 is the tier most people should be on, and they usually arrive there because of funnel count rather than list size.
The honest way to use it
Do not treat the free plan as a trial to evaluate. Treat it as somewhere to build.
Put a real offer on it. Send real emails to a real list. Find out whether the rigid page builder actually bothers you and whether shallow reporting actually costs you anything — because for a lot of small operations, neither does.
If you are currently paying for a platform, build your main funnel here in parallel before you cancel anything. Migration is where switching goes wrong. Running both for a month costs you nothing on this tier, and it turns a leap into a comparison.
You will know within a fortnight whether the ceiling is a problem. If it is, it is $17.
A different approach: Bonfire Terminal
Systeme.io runs in the vendor's cloud — your data is processed on their servers, and you pay every month for as long as you use it. Bonfire Terminal is a different kind of tool: an AI agent that runs as a desktop app on your own machine. No cloud, no API credits, and nothing you type leaves your computer.
To be straight with you: it is not a drop-in replacement for Systeme.io, and we are not going to pretend it is — they do different jobs. It is worth a look if the cloud-subscription model itself is what you want out of, or if you want an AI agent that works privately and offline. If Systeme.io is doing its job for you, keep it.
| Feature | Systeme.io | Bonfire Terminal |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Cloud email-marketing SaaS | Local AI desktop agent (Rust), bundled with affiliate-marketing training |
| Where it runs | Vendor’s cloud — your data is processed on their servers | On your own machine — no cloud, no API credits, no data leaves your computer |
| What you pay | See the vendor’s own pricing page | $27 entry (AI Marketers Club) — includes 21-day Bonfire Terminal access |
| Guarantee | See the vendor’s own terms | 60-day money-back guarantee |
The way in is the AI Marketers Club — $27 one-time, which includes 21 days of Bonfire Terminal access. Keeping it after that is a separate purchase, and the vendor's FAQ states Bonfire Terminal starts at $5,000. We earn a commission if you join, at no extra cost to you — which is exactly why our criticisms of Systeme.io are printed in full above, why we have told you what this is not, and why the $5,000 is in this sentence rather than left for you to discover later.
